Remember Me? Results 1 to 8 of 8. Thread: Evans Resonant or G1? Registered User. Evans Resonant or G1? This is for people who use Evans heads. I've always used clear G1's for my toms resonant head, but noticed when ordering heads that Evans actually makes a "resonant" head. Has anyone tried both and was there a major difference. The Evans Genera Resonant heads have the same specs as a clear G1 10milbut Evans describes them as having a longer sustain and more lively sound. They are 7mil thin. They are brighter, but have a shorter sustain and lend your toms a little more articulation compared to a 10mil reso head. Anything Goes. G1's or Ambassadors are great resonant heads, but they are on the lower side of the frequency, depending on tuning of course. I base this on a medium middle ground tuning.
The Genera Resonant uses an ultra clear mylar that has sweeter properties. I have used them before with amazing results! If you find that your drums Youre The One (Short) - Various - Time X - Vol.
8 sounding a bit tubby at the given tuning, throw on some Genera Resonants. The pitch is naturally higher due to the Drumul Ti-e Deschis - Screaming Heads - Reinforced properties, but they don't cut sustain like the Genera Resonant Glass heads do.

They dampen a lot of the unwanted mid-range overtones and yield a truer pitch from the drum. They are also suited for lower tunings if that's your thing. Originally Posted by thismercifulfate.
