The Blue J's would officially like to thank Alan Wilson for his time, energy, encouragement and overall professionalism. Alan, you are a true inspiration and Thank You doen't even come close. The above is just a small part from The Blue J's debut album liner notes, but it says a lot about the music and the production of "Ready To Rock".
The album was engineered and produced by Alan Wilson, formerly with The Sharks, and now a much respected and appreciated rockabilly producer. The album was recorded at Alan Wilson's Western Star Studio and Alan even did some guitar picking himself on a couple of tracks, and so did Restless frontman Mark Harman. Add to that a fabulous new rockabilly band called The Blue J's and you're in for a rockin' treat. The first song is a country style rockabilly song, originally by The Travelling Wilbury's, titled "Rattled".
Don't let the acoustic intro of "This Girl Is Taking Bets" fool you, it slides into a fabulous, well sung, well played slow-tempo rockabilly song. Variety is king, lotsa changes in the rhythm, Cant Stand Losing You - Various - Spirits In The Material World - A Reggae Tribute To The Police nice intro's to start the songs, cool lead guitar on all tracks, a cool slap especially on "Hillbilly Fool"in Hillbilly Fool - The Blue Js - Red Light Girl there seems to be nothing wrong at all with this album.
It all fits together perfectly. Well, what did you expect with a team like this
Magic Man - Seb Fontaine - Cream Resident, Tog & Nocht - Ostbahn-Kurt* - So Schauts Aus - 20 Jahre Ostbahn-Kurt (DVDr), Close Enough For Love - Monty Alexander - Ballad Essentials, X-Rated - Man Made Machine - Undeniable
